Les invités : Gilbert et Georges pour l'expo à Bozar : "Jack Freak Pictures", grande rétrospective de leurs travaux récents. Lorenzo Gatto, en résidence à Bozar. Jean-Marie Wynants consacre une seconde séquence à la 12e Biennale d'architecture de Venise. Soraya Amrani présente l'exposition d'Herman van den Boom, "Arcadia Redesigned 2004-2005" au Musée de la Photographie de Charleroi. Dominique Cominotto parle de la pièce "Roméo et Juliette" qui se joue au Théâtre royal des Galeries.

Imaginitive Lives/Lives of the Imagination. A photography project about Car-tuning and Car-babes. The underlying idea of the project is that of the world as a desire representation in a mediated society. The project was made possible by a generous grant by the Dutch Foundation of the Arts and the Sem Presser Foundation in Amsterdam.

and is also selected for The Tessaloniki Photobiennale 2010 (20 April – 31 May 2010) The evaluation committee consisted of the following: Vangelis Ioakimidis (Director of the Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki), Christoforos Marinos (independent curator, art historian), Thouli Misirloglou (art historian - curator Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art), Stamatis Schizakis (assistant curator of Photography and New Media – National Museum of Contemporary Art) and Martha Chalikia (independent curator – art historian).

Herman van den Boom Arcadia Redesigned 2004-2005
Les paysages rigoureux d’Herman van den Boom représentent des jardins entourant des habitations familières, des maisons banales qui envahissent nos campagnes. Il n’y a cependant rien de champêtre dans ces images aux couleurs contrastées. Paradoxalement cette présence humaine, indirecte, dégage une grande froideur car l’intervention de l’homme sur la nature produit un sentiment de solitude, une absence d’identité. Ces paysages reflètent un imaginaire stérile inconscient des beautés naturelles. Ce travail nous montre comment des propriétaires transforment leur environnement naturel. «En regardant ces façades de maisons et ces jardins, il m’est apparu que ce que je photographiais pouvait être ressenti et vécu comme une moderne Arcadia (région de la Grèce Antique célèbre pour sa vie harmonieuse). Les propriétaires eux-mêmes éprouvent sans aucun doute un grand plaisir de leur création, mais si vous rassemblez côte à côte tous ces fragments d’«Arcadia» par l’imagination et à l’échelle mondiale vous découvrez un énorme paysage surréaliste.»
Le paysage contemporain est ainsi, non seulement profondément et gravement transformé par l’industrialisation, la mondialisation mais aussi, à une autre échelle, mais de façon significative, au quotidien et dans notre environnement familier par les jardins d’agrément qui créent leur propre fiction d’Arcadie.
Ainsi, des espaces aménagés et propres qui aspirent à la sécurité et au confort, produisent le sentiment opposé, celui d’une agression violente par rapport à la nature. À la manière des « vanités », il émane de ces vues l’impression de la dérision des choses, du temps qui s’effile dans des lieux silencieux et figés.
La succession d’images d’Herman van den Boom, reflète également un sentiment d’ironie à la manière dont Martin Parr a pu le faire lorsqu’il photographie la société actuelle mettant le doigt sur une réalité étrange et dérangeante mais cependant devenue banale.
Né à Essen (Province d’Anvers) en 1950, Herman van den Boom a étudié aux Pays-Bas, le design industriel et les beaux-arts, il y enseigne la photographie. En 2005, il ouvre avec la poétesse hollandaise Elma van Haren l’«Hexgalleries» à Heks (Limbourg belge) un lieu de rencontre international pour la photographie et la littérature.
